1912 High School Biology Lab

about 20 students in a lab at a high school in 1912

Biological Lab A.A.H.S. '12

I was poking around the shops in Antique Row in Kensington, Md., when I discovered a bunch of old photographs. One, labeled “Biological Lab A.A.H.S. ’12,” seemed to be high school students in a lab in 1912. I don’t know what high school that was and neither did the shop owner who had taken the photo from an old photo album someone had sold her.

Several students are sketching pictures of stuffed birds perched in front of them. Some students are sketching plants. Another has a microscope. The young man sitting behind the one with the microscope looks strangely familiar (see enlargement below). He bears a striking resemblance to the actor Leonardo DiCaprio. His great grandfather, perhaps?

Is this 1912 Leonardo DiCaprio look-alike the actor's great grandfather?
